Coed Varsity Wrestling · Kael Bunce Takes 2nd, Heading to State Finals at Ford Field

  Place Points
Stockbridge High School 2nd 0

Its been 8 years since the last time a Stockbridge Wrestler has headed to the State Finals. Joey Hodges was the last one to place 7th in the State in 2011. This year, kael gets his chance to echo in the history books.
The regional tournament is set up to take the top 4 wrestlers in each weight class to the individual finals. Our district (Michigan Center) would see the Constantine district to determine which top 4 wrestlers are heading to Ford Field.
Kael Bunce, a 2nd seed would wrestle William Bradley of Pawpaw, a 3rd seed from Constantine district. kael would pin him in the first period at 43 seconds. kael would see the #1 seed from Constantine district in his second match. The winner of this match has an automatic entry to the State finals as an #1 or #2 seed. kael would face Ian Ishmael of Coloma High School, who had an impressive record of 39 wins and 3 loses. kael is still recovering from mono early this season, he had to miss several tournaments this year but still managed to pull off a 21-3 record. This would be a exciting match that goes to the end of the 3rd period. Kael would lace up a double chicken wing on Ian and hold him on his back the whole 3rd period to win 8 to 4. The third match, Kael would see the #1 wrestler in the State Christian Killion of Dundee high school. These two met last weekend for the finals at districts but Killion would get the win. In a tough match in the finals, Killion would come out on top, giving Bunce his 4th loss of the season. We look forward to wrestling him again in the State finals in two weeks.
Kael Bunce will be wrestling March 1st-2nd at Ford field, for the Individual State Championships.
