The Panthers and Warriors traded punches early on in the game, but Grass Lake pressed their agenda midway through the 2nd quarter and didn’t let up on the Panthers and cruised to a 54-12 win.

The Warriors got on the board first, but the Panthers answered on a Brandon Nelson to Alex Rose scoring strike from 17 yards out to close the gap to 6-7. The Warriors would respond with a long pass to close out the quarter and lead 6-14 after the 1st.

In the second the Panthers appears to force a fumble at the 3 yard line, recovering it in the end zone for a touch back, but the officials didn’t see it that way and ruled the runner down by contact. The Warriors would score one play later on a 1 yard run to lead 6-20. The Panthers would respond in dramatic fashion on their next offensive snap when Nelson found Cody Freiermuth on a 65 yard TD strike to cut the lead to 8 at 12-20, but the Panthers would get no closer.

Nelson led the team in passing, going 7-10 for 219 yards and 2 TD’s. Freiermuth was 2-6 for 24 yards, rushed 11 times for 28 yards, and caught 3 passes for 102 yards. Alex Rose caught 3 passes for 60 yards, Gage Place 1 for 55 yards, and Andrew Zeigler had 2 catches for 26 yards.

Tylin Ayers led the defense with 12 tackles and 1 sack. Josh Lewis had 8 tackles, Place and Zeigler each had 6 tackles.
