The Stockbridge Panthers softball team started districts off witha 12-9 victory over 30-6 Vandercook Lake. Vandy scored two in the top of the first, but the Panthers responded with a five spot of their own. Stockbridge added to their lead by scoring three runs in the second inning and two more in the third. The Jayhawks kept fighting back by scoring three in the fourth and four in the seventh.
Emily Breslin was the winning pitcher. She threw all seven innings, striking out seven and walked only one. The win ties the school record of 22 wins in a season.
Breslin also led the offense with three hits, and three rbi’s. Katelyn Knieper, McKenzie Noble, and Paige Wooden all collected two hits. Hannah Lockhart, Michelle Zemke, and Hannah Gutting all drove in a pair of runs. Knieper and Noble each scored three times while Gwen Rogozinski scored twice.
The win ties the school record of 24 wins in a season that was set by last years team. The Lady Panthers play Michigan Center on Monday night in the rain delayed district championship game starting at 4pm.
