The Lady Panthers traveled to Eaton Rapids on Tuesday night and suffered their first lose of the season 56-51 to a very aggressive Eaton Rapids team. Stockbridge fell behind by seven in the opening quarter 12-5. They chipped a way a little in the second but trailed 24-19 at the half. The third quarter started out like Eaton Rapids was going to pull away as they built a 13 point lead with four minutes to go, but the Panthers responded with an 10-2 to end the quarter, trailing by five again 42-37. Stockbridge continued their momentum and actually took a 48-44 lead with just under four minutes to play, however some missed free throws and untimely turnovers proved to much and Stockbridge came up just a little short 56-51.
Coach Hejnal added that, “Eaton Rapids was very physical and it took us some time to adjust to that. We did some positive thing, but we were just 11-28 from the free throw line. You have to take advantage when opponents put you to the line and we were unable to do that. I was very pleased with the energy we had, we just need to make sure we don’t confuse activity for achievement.”
Jordan Myers led the offense with 15 points, followed by Madi Mazuca with 11. Sylvia Whitt chipped in with 7, while Kaylee Dalton added 5. Paige Wooden, Ori Hackworth, Elysia Medina, Hailey Howard, and Tyler Showerman all added points as well. The Ladies are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Leslie for the conference opener. Tip time is 5:30, they hope to see you there.
