The Stockbridge Lady Panthers traveled to Leslie for their first conference game of the season and returned home with a 46-13 victory. The Panthers jumped out early, taking a 14-4 lead after the first quarter. Sophomore Tyler Showerman had a great first quarter knocking down a couple shots, but also with her defense and rebounding. The second quarter was much of the same as the lead grew to 25-9. Coach Hejnal stated, “At half time we focused on getting more athletic and becoming more defensive minded. I was pleased with our defensive intensity in the second half.” Stockbridge did just that as they outscored the Blackhawks 21-4 in the second half. Madi Mazuca came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 11 points. Fellow freshman Kaylee Dalton chipped in with 7, while Jordan Myers and Showerman each contributed 6. Sylvia Whitt, Hailee Fraser-Gutting, Hailey Howard, Molly Nichols, and Paige Wooden all added points as well. The win raises their record to 3-1 and 1-0 in the conference. The ladies are home on Monday night as they host a very talented Lansing Catholic team starting at 5:30pm. We hope to see you there.
