The Lady Panthers traveled to Bath last night to kick off the 2017-18 season, and they returned home victorious 42-24. It was a great team effort as 9 different players scored. Stockbridge jumped out to 9-7 lead after the first quarter and extended their lead to 9 points by halftime. The Panthers continued to pull away outscoring the Bees 8-5 in the third quarter. Sylvia Whitt led the team in scoring with 15, Paige Wooden and Madi Mazuca each chipped in with 6. Jordan Myers, Hailee Fraser-Gutting, Hailey Howard, Kaylee Dalton, Ori Hackworth, and Molly Nichols all added points as well. Coach Hejnal was very pleased with the effort and the execution for the first game of the season. “We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but it is nice to go the road and pick up a win against a very good basketball program. With Two freshman and three sophomores on varsity some girls are having to learn new roles. I am looking forward to seeing how much we can improve throughout the season.” The Lady Panthers host Vandercook Lake on Friday evening, game time is 5:30. We hope to see you there.
