Panthers News · Stockbridge Boys Varsity Basketball Splits Pair


The Stockbridge Boys Varsity Basketball team split a pair of games last week.  On Tuesday, the Panthers traveled to Tecumseh and lost a non-league game to the Indians. Stockbridge came out flat and uninspired and fell behind 20-20 at half.  In the middle of the fourth quarter, the Panthers took their first lead but later failed to capitalize on two lay-up opportunities and fell 51-48.  Charlie Young led the Panther attack with 16 points and 7 rebounds, Kolby Canfiield netted 12 points with 4 steals, Brandon Ostrander had 7 points, Hunter Puhr had 6 points, Mason Gee-Montgomery had 4 points with 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Tyler Jacobs had 3 points and 7 rebounds.  On Friday, Stockbridge hosted Lakewood in the annual Coming Home game and responded with a big 55 -40 victory. The Panthers came out ready to play and opened up a commanding 30-10 lead at the half and coasted to the win.  Tyler Jacobs netted 18 points with 10 rebounds, Charlie Young had 14 points with 6 rebounds, Mason Gee-Montgomery had 5 points with 7 steals, Brandon Ostrander had 5 points and played solid defense, Kolby Canfield and Liam Corby had 4 points each, Hunter Puhr had 3 points and Kyler Buurma netted 2 points to round out the scoring.  The Panthers stand at 11-5 overall, 6-3 in the GLAC as they host Olivet on Tuesday.

Multiple Teams · Stockbridge Varsity Boys Basketball Falls to Fowlerville


The Stockbridge Varsity Boys Basketball team hosted Fowlerville Tuesday night and fell to the Gladiators 50-42.  The Panthers started the game out slowly committing too many turnovers.  After finding the range in the second quarter, Stockbridge led 26-18 at the half. Fowlerville erased that lead early in the 3rd quarter before Stockbridge regained a 7 point lead late in the 3rd quarter.  The Gladiators dominated the 4th quarter as Stockbridge went cold from the field.  Leading the Panther attack was Tyler Jacobs with 15, Hunter Puhr had 10, Charlie Young and Brandon Ostrander had 5 each, Liam Corby had 3 and Kolby Canfield and Mason Gee-Montgomery had 2 each.  The Panthers must rebound quickly as they travel to Perry Friday for a key GLAC contest.

Panthers News · Stockbridge Boys Varsity Basketball defeats Maple Valley 63-33


The Stockbridge Boys Varsity Basketball Team opened the second half of their GLAC schedule with a convincing 62-33 victory over Maple Valley,  The Panthers opened up the game with the first seven points and led 30-17 at the half.  Stockbridge continued to generate offense from their defense in the second half and cruised to the win.  Leading the Stockbridge attack were Tyler Jacobs with 17 points and 7 rebounds, Charlie Young scored 14 points, Brandon Ostrander had 13 points, Mason Gee-Montgomery scored 9 points with 7 assists, Kolby Canfield had 5 points and 4 assists and Hunter Puhr and Kyle Lilley scored 2 points each. The Panthers improve to 10-2 overall and 5-2 in the GLAC. They host Fowlerville in a non-league game Tuesday.

Game Recap

The JV Lady Panthers jumped out to a 13-2 lead after the first quarter Tuesday night and cruised to a 33-10 victory over Tecumseh. The win evens their record at 8-8 with three games to go. Every player saw ample minutes and contributed to the victory. Free throw shooting improved as the Panthers went 8-12 from the line. Mackenzie Williams led the offense with 14 points, while Paige Brown added 6, and Faith Whitt and Michelle Zemke each contributed 4. The Lady Panthers travel to Lakewood on Thursday night.

Panthers News · Stockbridge Boys Varsity Basketball Loses at Perry


The Stockbridge Boys Varsity Basketball team traveled to Perry Friday night and came home with a close 46-43 defeat to the Ramblers. The game was very close throughout with neither team opening up any significant margin.  The Panthers had some opportunities late but couldn’t convert.  Leading the Panther attack was Tyler Jacobs with 10 points, Brandon Ostrander, Mason Gee-Montgomery and Kilby Canfield each scored 7 points and Hunter Puhr and Liam Corby had 6 each.  The Panthers fall to 10-4 overall and 5-3 in the GLAC and head to Tecumseh Tuesday night.

Game Recap

The Lady Panthers lost to the Ramblers of Perry last night 45-30. A slow start proved to much to overcome as Stockbridge feel behind 16-4 after one quarter. The ladies continued to battle as they outscored the Ramblers by three points in the second quarter and two more points in the third, but it just wasn’t enough. Free throw shooting improved for the Panthers as they connected on 12 of 19 attempts. Michelle Zemke led the offense with 11 points and Mackenzie Williams chipped in with 9. Paige Brown, Brittany Freiermuth, Faith Whitt, Abby Salyer, and Bethany Plennert all contributed to the scoring as well.

The Lady Panthers evened their record at 7-7 with a 40-28 victory last night at Fowlerville. The score was tied at 7 after one quarter, and Stockbridge held just a one point lead at the half. A strong second half propelled the Panthers to their victory. Faith Whitt led the offense with 11 points, While Michelle Zemke chipped in with 8. Paige Brown, Shannon Smith, and Mackenzie Williams each had 7.
